The second half of the Premier League season gives FPL players the opportunity to play a second wildcard of the season – freshening up teams who have gone a little stale with players who may not have been squeezed into the side without a load of transfers and lost points.

With the help of Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are three essential wildcard transfers that could kickstart your points haul for Gameweek 20.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has flourished since moving into an inverted wing back role, scooping two goals and theee assists in his last seven games.

The 25-year-old has helped Liverpool keep three clean sheets in that time, with the Premier League leaders conceding just six goals during a hectic December schedule. That run of form, and Alexander-Arnold’s impact, has seen him scoop maximum bonus points on four occasions – an absolute must for teams looking to challenge at the top end of FPL mini-leagues.

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen has registered two goals and an assist in his last four Premier League games, going through a tricky looking set of fixtures relatively unscathed.

Brighton will be no pushovers for a player who has fired seven shots on target in that time – only Mohamed Salah has more – but the absence of captain Lewis Dunk could prove pivotal as West Ham’s attack is particularly menacing at home.

Aided by the in-form Mohammed Kudus, Bowen will fancy his chances of adding to the goal and assist he grabbed in the reverse fixture at the Amex – Brighton are without a clean sheet all season.

Dominic Solanke

You’d be hard pressed to find a player more in-form than Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

The Cherries’ talisman has scored six goals over the festive period, helping his side to 13 points from a possible 15, and importantly from an FPL point of view is the player on duty for penalty kicks. Throw into the mix the fact he always plays 90 minutes and Tottenham defensive duo Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are out injured, and things start to look even rosier.

Spurs will have the backing of their home support but with 11 goals shipped in their last six, there’s no reason to think Solanke will blank in north London.
