Kylian Mbappe’s representatives release statement amid reports of Real Madrid agreement

Kylian Mbappe’s camp have vehemently denied a report claiming that he has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

Mbappe’s deal with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season and he is now free to discuss a pre-contract with other clubs.

Real Madrid have long been tipped to sign the forward, and Foot Mercato reported on Sunday night he had finally agreed terms over a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Mbappe’s entourage released a statement to RMC Sport on Monday playing down such a claim.

“There is no agreement about Kylian’s future, especially as there are no discussions underway about it. No type of influence could dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, reflections or decisions,” the statement read.

Mbappe himself commented on such speculation last week even prior to the report from Foot Mercato’s emergence.

“I haven’t made my decision yet. I haven’t made a choice. With the agreement I had with the president in the summer, my decision is not important as we managed to protect all the parties and preserved the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which is the most important,” he said.

90min reported last week that PSG are relaxed about Mbappe’s future as they would not be out of pocket even if he were to leave on a free transfer. There is a legally binding agreement between the club and player that could see Mbappe return up to €80m (£69m) in the event he departs this summer. This figure is based on several variables and has been described by sources as a complicated legal agreement.

There is also a possibility that Mbappe signs a new contract at Parc des Princes, but this would likely serve to facilitate a future move at a fair price.
