Liverpool will welcome Brentford to Anfield in the Premier League this Sunday as the Reds look to bring the Bees’ three-game winning run to an end.
The Reds needed an emotional 95th-minute equaliser from Luis Diaz to rescue a point at Kenilworth Road following a pretty woeful display. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side somehow managed to climb the Premier League table last weekend thanks to Arsenal’s defeat, moving into third.
Brentford have been in resurgent form following a shaky start to the campaign, winning their last three matches against Burnley, Chelsea and West Ham United. The Bees haven’t won at Anfield since 1937, albeit they haven’t had too many opportunities to do so, but will be hopeful of pulling off an upset on Merseyside this Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp will be sweating on the fitness of several members of his squad ahead of Sunday’s clash with Brentford, including captain Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman missed the trip to Toulouse in the Europa League on Thursday with illness but is expected to be available for the weekend.
Van Dijk’s compatriot Ryan Gravenberch was also absent for the journey to France with a slight knee injury and will face a late fitness test prior to the Brentford game. Fellow midfielders Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones will definitely be missing for the Reds, with the latter expected to return after the international break.
Alexis Mac Allister is also suspended for Brentford having received five Premier League yellow cards already this season, leaving Klopp short of midfield options.
Andy Robertson remains sidelined with a shoulder injury meaning either Kostas Tsimikas or Joe Gomez, as he did against Luton, will start at left-back.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Brentford (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endo, Szoboszlai, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Jota.
Thomas Frank has an extensive injury list to compete with travelling to Anfield, with a number of long and short-term absentees.
Ivan Toney is still suspended while full-back Rico Henry is expected to miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Kevin Schade is still out with a muscle injury and will be sidelined for several months, as will right-back Aaron Hickey.
Both Mikkel Damsgaard and Josh Dasilva are expected to return in November, but may have to wait until after the international break to be fully fit. Keane Lewis-Potter and Shandon Baptiste are also likely to miss out on the trip to Merseyside.
However, goalkeeper Mark Flekken should return between the sticks and take Thomas Strakosha’s place after being substituted against West Ham with a dead leg.
Brentford predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-3-3): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt; Onyeka, Norgaard, Jensen; Mbuemo, Maupay, Wissa.
Liverpool will be desperate to respond to a disappointing draw with Luton and should manage to get back to winning ways against an injury-hit Brentford. The Reds have been formidable at home this season and, despite having some fitness concerns of their own, should take advantage of the Bees’ lack of squad options.
Yoanne Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo could cause Liverpool’s backline some problems with their pace and direct running, but Liverpool’s forward line should have enough to cut open Brentford with greater regularity.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Brentford
