Man Utd predicted lineup vs Arsenal

Manchester United will kick off their stint in the United States with a heated friendly against long-time rivals Arsenal on Saturday.

The Red Devils are a little behind their opponents when it comes to fitness as most of the international players only returned to training this week and may not be ready for more than 45 minutes, so Erik ten Hag needs to be clever with his team selection.

Here’s how the boss could set up for this one.

Kobbie Mainoo

GK: Matej Kovar – Andre Onana has barely had any time to train with his new side and so should miss out in favour of Kovar, who had an excellent showing last time out against Lyon.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – The Englishman has caught the eye this summer but will have his work cut out for him here.

CB: Raphael Varane – Varane looked a little slow against Lyon but it’s all about getting minutes under the belt at this point.

CB: Lisandro Martinez – His ball-playing was excellent last time out, leaving fans desperate to see Martinez working with Onana again.

LB: Alvaro Fernandez – Luke Shaw only returned to training on Saturday and may only get 45 minutes as a result.

DM: Kobbie Mainoo – One of the stars of pre-season this far, young Mainoo deserves to play a significant role against high quality opposition.

DM: Mason Mount – Mount could line up opposite best friend Declan Rice, with both players still adjusting to new surroundings.

RM: Antony – There is already pressure on Antony and the return of the senior players around him will only ramp that up.

AM: Donny van de Beek – An impressive outing against Lyon could earn Van de Beek another 45 minutes to share, with new captain Bruno Fernandes also set for his own half.

LM: Amad Diallo – Marcus Rashford will need his fitness building back up and so may not get the nod from the start just yet.

ST: Jadon Sancho – The Sancho striker experiment hasn’t really worked but seems likely to continue, although young Joe Hugill has done enough to warrant some more minutes.
