Man Utd predicted lineup vs FC Copenhagen – Champions League

Manchester United go into Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen in Denmark knowing that victory is likely to leave them second in the group standings going into matchday five later this month, despite starting the European campaign with two defeats.

Erik ten Hag’s team were victorious – just about – in the reverse fixture against the Danes at Old Trafford, a game ultimately defined by Andre Onana’s late penalty save.

United have plenty of room to improve but will take some positives from a narrow Premier League win over Fulham at the weekend and will expect to start building some momentum here.

GK: Andre Onana – His United career seems to be up and running after a few wobbly games in August and September. The penalty stop against Copenhagen appears to have been the catalyst.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Actually made a positive difference off the bench against Newcastle on his injury comeback and then played the full 90 minutes against Fulham.

CB: Raphael Varane – On the bench in the Premier League but a starter in the Champions League is the curious pattern that has emerged for the Frenchman in recent weeks.

CB: Harry Maguire – But for injuries to others, the former captain might still be warming the bench. He was excellent against Copenhagen last time.

LB: Sergio Reguilon – Could return to the team in place of Diogo Dalot, who was poor against Newcastle but put in a solid showing against Fulham.

CM: Sofyan Amrabat – Without Casemiro due to injury, the onus on the deadline day loan signing to become the sole enforcer in midfield.

CM: Scott McTominay – The Scotland international has reasserted himself as a starter since his heroics against Brentford and the hope is that his passion will rub off on others.

RM: Antony – Ten Hag has defended the expensive winger this month, insisting he remains the “right player” for the club amid difficult circumstances.

AM: Bruno Fernandes – It was a captain’s performance that saw him pop up with the late winner against Fulham and United will need more of that.

LM: Alejandro Garnacho – There are still doubts about Marcus Rashford’s fitness, which could mean another chance here on the left for the young Argentine.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund – Still waiting for a first Premier League goal, but it’s three in three in the Champions League for the striker so far as he prepares to face his former club.
