United still have a number of players unavailable to Erik ten Hag. Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, three stars who would almost certainly start were everyone fit, aren’t in contention.
Tyrell Malacia is still injured but there is a chance Amad Diallo will return to the bench for this game, giving Ten Hag another option on the right wing. Jadon Sancho will play no role once again as he remains in exile.
Manchester United predicted lineup vs Luton Town (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Reguilon; Eriksen, McTominay; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.
There are a number of players out for Luton currently, hindering their chances of climbing away from the relegation zone. Reece Burke, Mads Juel Andersen, Daniel Potts, Amari’i Bell and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all missing for this game.
Given how close Luton came to beating Liverpool last time out, the team is expected to remain largely the same when they travel to Old Trafford.
Luton Town predicted lineup vs Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Mengi, Lockyer, Osho; Kabore, Nakamba, Barkley, Doughty; Townsend, Ogbene; Morris.
There seems to be a fair reason to back the opposition every time Man Utd take to the field this season, but there are a few reasons to think the hosts will get the three points here.
Ten Hag has to put the focus on the opening stages of the Copenhagen game, where Man Utd looked fluid and clinical before things went south. The red card changed everything and while there are still areas that need to be worked on, the Dutch coach must force his team to take the initiative and attack from the off.
It may not be a smooth ride but United should be too dangerous for the team currently in 17th.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Luton Town
