MLS clubs learn opponents for 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup

The 10 competing Major League Soccer sides have learned their opponents for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup that’s set to kick-off in February 2024.

The new expanded continental tournament, which now boasts 27 sides from North & Central America, will see the likes of Inter Miami and Lionel Messi compete in it for the first time ever. With the competition’s growth, the winning side has a chance to take home at least $5m, a huge increase from the previous prize money of $500,000.

Liga MX sides have dominated the tournament, winning nine of the last 10 editions, as Seattle Sounders claimed the lone MLS trophy in 2022 over Pumas. Will MLS sides win their second CCC in three seasons, or will a Liga MX club continue their dominant reign in the competition?

Round one sees 22 sides go head-to-head in two legs, as the team with winning score on aggregate advances to the Round of 16. The likes of Miami, Columbus Crew, Pachuca, SV Robinhood and LD Alajuelense will get a first-round bye after sealing qualification to the competition via winning a league title, domestic trophy or an international tournament like the Herons in Leagues Cup.

The round of 16 could feature a couple of all-MLS battles, as MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew will battle the winner of Houston Dynamo vs St Louis City. Miami and Messi could have a Leagues Cup final rematch on their hands if Nashville are able to advance past Moca FC.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals will kick-off following the conclusion of the round of 16 in April, with the decisive final contest set for June 2.
