Real Salt Lake have added left-back Alexandros Katranis to their defense, securing his signature through the 2025 season with options for 2026 and 2027.

Katranis brings plenty of experience after his playing time in Europe, as he registered 207 appearances for the likes of Atromitos Athens, Piast Gliwice, and Hatayspor.

“Alex will provide guile, speed and skill on our left side, also giving us depth as we look to compete in 45-50 games this year across all competitions,” RSL interim chief soccer officer/sporting director Kurt Schmid said in a release.

“Katranis will compete immediately, bringing with him experience at various levels in Europe. We are excited to see how quickly he can integrate with our club and succeed in a new chapter of his career.”

DC United have signed midfielder Matti Peltola from HJK Helsinki through the 2027 campaign with an option for 2028.

The 21-year-old joins Troy Lesesne’s side after spending his entire young career in Finland, where he suited up 96 times for Helsinki that included time in the UEFA Europa and Conference League.

“Matti is a bright young talent who had significant interest around Europe,” DC general manager and chief soccer officer Ally Mackay said in a release.

“He has an exceptional passing range and vision in the midfield combined with a defensive intuition on the other side of the ball. He’s mature beyond his years on the field and will be a great addition to bolster our roster going into 2024. We’re looking forward to integrating him with the team and welcoming him to the District.”
