Two of the best sides in the Premier League face off on Saturday evening when Newcastle host Arsenal at St. James’ Park after differing fortunes in midweek for the two sides.
Newcastle were very impressive in the Carabao Cup as they cruised past Manchester United at Old Trafford, whilst Arsenal were knocked out by West Ham United, a result that few saw coming.
Still recovering from their poor form at the very start of the season, a win for Newcastle would see them really tighten things up in the top six as they are actually seven points behind Arsenal before kick-off. Should they win, it would be an unbeaten Arsenal‘s first loss of the Premier League season.
Here is all that you need to know about Newcastle vs Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

There were near wholesale changes made by Eddie Howe for the match at Old Trafford which makes the comprehensive victory even more impressive, so the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson are expected to return to the starting XI.
Matt Targett went off early with a hamstring injury, so he joins the likes of Javier Manquillo, Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes on the treatment table. Sandro Tonali is out serving his long-term ban over a betting scandal.
Newcastle predicted lineup vs Arsenal (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Lascelles, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Gordon.
There are a few injuries at Arsenal for Mikel Arteta to deal with. Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are both still out of action, along with long-term absentee Jurrien Timber.
Emile Smith Rowe has also now been ruled out again after picking up a knee problem before the midweek clash with West Ham. A number of key players will come back into the starting eleven.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Newcastle (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli
This is really not an easy one to call with both sides undoubtedly having lots of quality, whilst also missing some very important players. The deciding factor could well be the home crowd at St. James’ Park which will be right up for this one after the win over Manchester United.
There is more of an onus on Newcastle to win this as they try to catch and overtake teams like Arsenal, and that could play into their hands as they seem to thrive on taking control of matches.
Prediction: Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
