Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs Newcastle – Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain can potentially seal their spot in the Champions League round of 16 with a win over Newcastle on Tuesday night.

The French club’s progression will depend on the result in the other Group F fixture between AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, but PSG will nonetheless be determined to avenge their humiliating 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park on Matchday 2.

With a trip to Signal Iduna Park to come on the final matchday, Enrique will be hopeful that his side’s place in the round of 16 is secure after Newcastle’s visit.

Here’s how the lineup the Spaniard could deploy against the Premier League side on Tuesday.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma – The Italian made a dreadful mistake which led to a Monaco goal on Friday night, but his status as PSG’s number one isn’t under threat.

RB: Achraf Hakimi – Hakimi’s duel with Tino Livramento will be an intriguing sub-plot in Paris. Both have pace to burn.

CB: Milan Skriniar – The Slovakian defender netted on his return to San Siro last time out in the Champions League, but his opener failed to lead to anything of substance as Milan rallied to win 2-1.

CB: Lucas Hernandez – With Marquinhos a doubt due to a hamstring injury, Hernandez should retain his place alongside Skriniar at centre-back. He’s more than capable of performing this role.

LB: Nordi Mukiele – The versatile Frenchman will start at left-back if Marquinhos isn’t fit. If he does get the nod, Mukiele will play a conservative role in order to free up Hakimi down the right.

CM: Manuel Ugarte – Ugarte struggled mightily at San Siro and there’s a chance he’s overwhelmed by Newcastle’s midfield power on Tuesday night.

CM: Fabian Ruiz – Fabian’s minutes will skyrocket while Warren Zaire-Emery is out of action. The 17-year-old won’t feature again in 2023 after picking up an ankle injury.

CM: Vitinha – The little craftsman scored a pearler in Friday night’s win over Monaco and is one of the underrated difference-makers Enrique possesses.

RW: Ousmane Dembele – Dembele is already one of Enrique’s trusted lieutenants despite his hot-and-cold nature. The winger was excellent against Monaco, scoring his first goal for PSG in the process.

ST: Randal Kolo Muani – Enrique isn’t expected to make many changes from Friday night’s XI, but he could rotate his striker with Kolo Muani replacing Goncalo Ramos.

LW: Kylian Mbappe – Mbappe already has 16 PSG goals this season, but just two have arrived in the Champions League. He was tamed by the St James’ Park crowd in the reverse fixture, so he’ll be looking to put on a show in midweek.
