The Premier League has banned Israeli or Palestinian flags from being displayed during matches this coming weekend in an effort to avoid potential incidents inside stadiums over the highly divisive events that have been unfolding.
It is a move that has been matched by the EFL in England’s three lower divisions.
Players and officials will wear black armbands and a silence will be observed prior to kick-offs to pay respect to the victims on both sides of the ongoing conflict.
The FA had already taken a similar approach when England hosted Italy at Wembley in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday night, while the clubs and security experts have been consulted.
