Premier League predictions: Gameweek 13

Premier League football returns this weekend after the November international break as top-flight teams around Europe enter a hectic period of the season filled with regular fixtures.

Stars from England were in action during Euro 2024 and 2026 World Cup qualifiers and some faced hectic traveling schedules to make it back in time for the league’s resumption.

Gameweek 13 starts with a bang as Manchester City and Liverpool go at it at the Etihad in a top-two clash before a rejuvenated Chelsea side travel north to take on injury-riddled Newcastle. Sunday then sees Tottenham host Aston Villa before the wounded Everton clash with Manchester United.

Here’s how 90min sees the weekend’s fixtures panning out.

Manchester City and Liverpool have built up quite the rivalry in the modern era. Its latest blockbuster comes in the early kick-off on Saturday at the Etihad and while the current league leaders are favoured to beat Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at home, don’t be surprised if a Premier League classic ends with a positive result for the away side.

Burnley became the first team to hit double digits for losses with their tenth league defeat before the break. They face West Ham, who are definitely without Michail Antonio and perhaps Jarrod Bowen also, but the Hammers are unbeaten in their last four meetings with the Clarets and have enough firepower elsewhere in attack to win at Turf Moor.

Luton Town‘s bid for survival got a shot in the arm from Everton’s ten-point deduction but games like their upcoming clash with Crystal Palace are crucial to their hopes. That said, the bright sparks in the Eagles’ attack may burn too bright for the Hatters to deal with.

Newcastle‘s injury list has hit an absurd high with key performers out of action as Eddie Howe prepares for the visit of Chelsea. The Blues themselves have been buoyed by good results against Tottenham and Man City and will hope to take advantage of their hosts’ many absentees at St James’ Park.

Nottingham Forest were dealt a blow with Taiwo Awoniyi’s long-term injury but there’s hope of a result on Saturday against Brighton, who haven’t tasted victory in the Premier League since September, drawing four of their last six games.

Sheffield United‘s form has picked up with a win and a draw in their last two games. Three more points against Bournemouth would be handy for the 18th-placed side, with the Cherries four ahead after victories against Burnley and Newcastle.

Three straight wins for Brentford were followed up by a comprehensive defeat to Liverpool and the Bees have a similarly large task when Arsenal visit the Gtech Community Stadium. The Gunners’ goalkeeper debate will rear its ugly head once again when Aaron Ramsdale starts due to David Raya’s ineligibility against his parent club.

The first of Sunday’s two games comes in north London when a depleted Tottenham deal with the visit of Aston Villa. The Villans have the quality in attack to exploit Spurs’ high line, though the threat of Ange Postecoglou’s side shouldn’t be ignored.

Manchester United must overcome a cauldron of anger when they visit Goodison Park. Everton‘s ten-point penalty will provoke a raucous home crowd and the Red Devils have a number of important players out injured, leaving this contest up for grabs.

The gameweek comes to a close on Monday night with Wolves‘ trip to Fulham. The Wanderers scooped a late 2-1 win over Tottenham last time out and take on a Cottagers outfit with only one victory from their last seven league games.
