PSG 4-0 Marseille: Player ratings as Mbappe suffers injury in Le Classique win

Kylian Mbappe was forced off with an injury during Paris Saint-Germain’s thumping 4-0 win over Marseille on Sunday evening.

PSG were able to win the game comfortably despite Mbappe being subbed off in the 30th minute, with Achraf Hakimi, Randal Kolo Muani and a brace from Goncalo Ramos proving to be the difference between the two Le Classique sides.

How the game unfolded

PSG were relentless in the opening exchanges, pressing forward with real intent and they deservedly took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes.

The goal would come in fairly embarrassing fashion for Pau Lopez, who was caught out by a long-range Achraf Hakimi free kick which the right-back looped into the near bottom corner of the net when the goalkeeper was fully expecting it to be chipped into the box.

Despite Paris Saint-Germain’s dominance, Marseille did pose a threat on the counter attack and really should’ve bagged an equaliser in the 22nd minute. After a quick break down the right flank, Jonathan Clauss found Vitinha unmarked at the back post with a delightful cross, however the former Braga man was unable to keep his subsequent headed effort on target.

Shortly after this chance, PSG sufered a huge blow when Mbappe was subbed off with a suspected injury on the half hour mark.

Although without their main man, the home side were able to double their lead in the game before half-time thanks to new signing Randal Kolo Muani. The France international stole in to tap the ball into an empty net after Hakimi had hit the foot of the post with a drilled long-range effort.

A few minutes into the second half it was 3-0 to PSG. The goal would come from Mbappe replacement Goncalo Ramos, aggressively attacked a whipped Ousmane Dembele cross from the right flanks to bag his first goal at his new club.

PSG saw out the remainder of the second half with relative ease, thanks to their ability to keep the ball and the sheer lack of ability on show from a Marseille perspective.

In the final few minutes of the game, Les Parisiens were able to add a much deserved fourth. Ramos scored his second of the game following a quick counter attack led by the impressive Kolo Muani.
