PSG confident of new contract for Warren Zaire-Emery

Paris Saint-Germain are confident of agreeing a long-term contract with teenage midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, who has been attracting interest from across Europe, 90min understands.

Zaire-Emery has progressed through the youth ranks in Paris to become a key member of the senior squad and has already racked up close to 50 appearances at the age of just 17.

Long touted as a superstar of the future, Zaire-Emery’s progress has been tracked by the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, but PSG are delighted with Zaire-Emery and 90min understands they are already well down the line with talks of a new long-term deal which will make him one of the highest paid teenagers in Europe.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that Zaire-Emery is very happy with his progress at the club and has shown no desire to engage in interest from elsewhere, keeping his focus on PSG and France as he eyes a spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad for Euro 2024.

Zaire-Emery has just been named Under-21 captain by Thierry Henry, but many believe he has a real chance of breaking into Deschamps’ selection ahead of next summer.

Current PSG boss Luis Enrique has shown huge trust in Zaire-Emery since his arrival and he has not been disappointed.

“Warren could be 37 years old rather than 17, I am so lucky to get here and have a player of his quality,” said the Spaniard.

“He is a good example of a player who comes out of the academy and what you should be like. He is humble, works hard, very intelligent.

“He always links up well with his teammates which is so important for us. So all we can do is enjoy Warren Zaire-Emery in every match and training session.”
