Real Madrid to earn €200m-a-year in sponsorships thanks to new agreement

Real Madrid’s new partnership with technology company HP will see them earn €200m-a-year from sponsorships alone.

Madrid have revealed on social media that a major announcement is coming on Friday, which will be the unveiling as HP as a club partner.

According to MARCA, HP’s agreement with Madrid will see the club rake in €200m per year just from their sponsors. HP will become the first shirt-sleeve sponsor in Los Blancos’ history.

Their long-standing agreement with kit supplier adidas already earns Madrid €120m annually, while main shirt sponsors Emirates pay the club €70m for each year. This new deal with HP ensures that Madrid earn more money from shirt sponsorships than any other club in world football.

This boost to income will certainly help Madrid in the transfer market moving forward, particularly at a time where Europe’s major clubs have been hamstrung by Financial Fair Play regulations. Rivals Barcelona, for example, are still feeling the pinch after years of mismanagement off the pitch.

Though Madrid have gone through the entire January transfer window without making a senior signing, they are expected to make a fresh play for long-term target Kylian Mbappe in the summer. The forward’s Paris Saint-Germain deal expires at the end of the season and he is already able to discuss a pre-contract agreement elsewhere – Madrid fans on social media initially believed the club’s announcement for Friday was regarding Mbappe.

Madrid have also been extensively linked with a move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, though reports in recent weeks have suggested he is more likely to stay at the Allianz Arena and sign a new contract.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is another player tipped to join Madrid, though he also has a number of suitors from the Premier League.
