Real Madrid must have expected Girona to be out of their hair by now, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side head into Sunday’s clash against Almeria in second place.
The La Liga table looks fascinating as we get into the second half of the season and Madrid will climb above Girona into first with a win here in their game in hand. The gap is just one point and they are big favourites here, even factoring in the Copa del Rey defeat against Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.
Almeria sit rock bottom of La Liga and have been truly awful this season, failing to win a single game and amassing just six points. With Los Blancos hungry to lay down a marker with a big win, it would be incredible if they got anything from their trip to the Bernabeu.

Madrid have not been plagued by a ridiculous number of injuries this season but have gone months without Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, who would both expect to start almost every match. David Alaba is on that list too now after he suffered a serious knee injury.
