Real Madrid vs Osasuna – La Liga: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Real Madrid are back in La Liga action on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Osasuna to the Spanish capital in a repeat of the 2023 Copa del Rey final.

Osasuna were surprise finalists in Spain’s primary cup competition last season, but a Rodrygo brace ensured Madrid ended the season with some silverware.

Los Blancos have since started the 2023/24 campaign in fine fettle and are looking to secure their eighth win from nine in La Liga this weekend. They’ve also won two from two in the Champions League after edging a back-and-forth encounter with Napoli on Tuesday.

Here’s everything you need to know about Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga clash.

With Eder Militao out indefinitely and captain Nacho Fernandez suspended, Ancelotti will be hoping David Alaba recovers from a muscle injury in time for Saturday’s game. The Italian’s centre-back options are thin.

However, there is hope that Alaba will be fit to play.

Thibaut Courtois is a long-term absentee, while Arda Guler won’t return until after the October international break. A reshuffle is also expected in midfield following Madrid’s midweek travails.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Osasuna (4-3-1-2): Kepa; Carvajal, Rudiger, Alaba, Garcia; Tchouameni, Camavinga, Modric; Bellingham; Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo.

Unlike Madrid, Osasuna have little to worry about on the injury front.

There two current absentees; Unai Garcia and Moi Gomez, are both expected to return to action once La Liga returns after the October break.

Osasuna predicted lineup vs Madrid (4-3-3): Herrera; Pena, Catena, D. Garcia, Cruz; Moncayola, Munoz, Oroz; Ru. Garcia, Ra. Garcia, Jose.

Osasuna grabbed a much-needed victory in Alaves last weekend, and now they’ll be looking to take advantage of a potentially worse-for-wear Madrid side on Saturday.

The visitors lack star talent, but they’re a sound outfit capable of competing with La Liga’s best. Madrid can’t afford to go through the motions in this one.

However, their midweek venture could render this contest a tough one for the hosts given Osasuna’s robustness in defence. Madrid have so far had greater success against more proactive sides, but the visitors won’t offer them much. This could be a slog, but the in-form hosts will edge it.

Prediction: Real Madrid 1-0 Osasuna
