Scotland vs England – International friendly: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the oldest fixture in international football, Scotland and England will, for some reason, butt heads on the 151st anniversary.

Having first met all the way back in 1872, Scotland and England have faced off a cool 115 times and are pretty even on the scoreboard. England boast the narrowest of bragging rights with 48 victories to their name, while Scotland have been the ones celebrating on 41 occasions.

It’s a friendly on paper but there are rarely hugs and kisses when these two fierce rivals meet, with a hostile Hampden Park sure to raise the tension even further.

Here’s all you need to know about this one.

There are no major injury concerns for Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who may look to rotate his squad but will not be underestimating the importance of this fixture.

Midfielder Scott McTominay, whose usual outings in front of an English audience are spent away from the penalty area, is a goalscoring machine for his country and boasts six goals in his last five outings.

Scotland predicted lineup (3-4-2-1): Gunn; Porteous, Hendry, Tierney; Patterson, S Armstrong, McGregor, Robertson; McTominay, McGinn; Dykes

Similarly, Gareth Southgate has no fitness issues, but the biggest problem facing the Three Lions’ boss is the pressure that will mount if England follow up the Ukraine draw with a poor showing here.

Fans will hope to see the likes of Levi Colwill and Phil Foden brought in for this one.

England predicted lineup (4-3-3): Pickford; Walker, Maguire, Colwill, Trippier; Rice, Gallagher, Bellingham; Saka, Kane, Foden

As this is a friendly, it’s always going to be tough to predict how it will go. Both managers will want to hand out minutes to everyone, but neither will want to over-rotate and put their teams at risk in the latest instalment of this famous rivalry.

Scotland have the form on their side and their five-game unbeaten run also includes a thumping 2-0 win over Spain in front of the Hampden Park faithful, so there will be no fear from the hosts in this one.

If England can get themselves together, they should have enough about them to snatch the win, but don’t expect a dominant victory.

Prediction: Scotland 1-2 England
