Thomas Kaminski wins November Castrol Save of the Month award

Thomas Kaminski has won the Castrol Save of the Month award for November thanks to his fantastic double save to deny Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Jeffrey Schlupp.

Luton Town won their first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season in November, and have the stunning form of their goalkeeper Kaminski to thank for that maiden victory over Crystal Palace.

The Belgian goalkeeper was at his very best to make a stunning double save to deny a deflected effort from Eze and then a quick follow-up strike from Schlupp from the edge of the box while the scores were locked level at 0-0.

Luton then went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Teden Mengi and Jacob Brown in the second half.

Speaking after winning the award, Kaminski said that he “will never forget” the two saves against Palace: “It’s a really nice feeling and obviously I’m very proud as well because you’re up against some of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“It actually went quite quick, it was a shot from Eze from outside of the box that got a little deflection off of Tom Lockyer and then Schlupp got the rebound.

“I think it’s a feeling I will never forget because the whole stadium was singing my name. It was a good feeling.

“It’s something I’ve been told to do in training, don’t admire your save, just stand up as quickly as you can. It kept us in the game at that moment too, [in order] to get points on the board. We want to stay in the league and we want to compete in every game.”

Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, Manchester United’s Andre Onana, Newcastle United’s Nick Pope, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and West Ham United’s Alphonse Areola were all also nominated for the November Castrol Save of the Month.
