Tottenham predicted lineup vs Man City – Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur’s walking wounded make the daunting march to Manchester City on Sunday as they look to end a run of three straight Premier League losses.

Spurs again fell to defeat after taking the lead against Aston Villa, dropping out of the top four as head coach Ange Postecoglou attempts to navigate a minefield of injuries and suspensions against last season’s treble winners.

Here’s the side he may pick for Sunday’s clash at the Etihad.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario – Has made some highlight reel saves in recent weeks but conceded eight goals in his last three games.

RB: Pedro Porro – Will have his defensive capabilities tested against the most illusive attack in the world, but that won’t stop him bombing forward.

CB: Emerson Royal – Cristian Romero’s suspension, Micky van de Ven’s injury and Eric Dier’s lack of appeal to Postecoglou means Emerson should get another start at centre-back.

CB: Ben Davies – The Welshman and Emerson managed well enough in periods against Aston Villa, but their lack of physicality and aerial ability was undoubtedly exploited and will be targeted again on Sunday.

LB: Destiny Udogie – Just needs to recover some composure in the attacking third, going without a goal contribution since bagging two assists against Bournemouth and Burnley in August and September.

CM: Yves Bissouma – Rodrigo Bentancur is facing another two months out but Bissouma is available again after serving a suspension for yellow card accumulation.

CM: Giovani Lo Celso – Scored Tottenham’s deflected opener against Villa and now looks as capable of contributing effectively since he joined back in 2019.

RW: Brennan Johnson – Appears at home in Tottenham‘s attack but could have demanded more of the ball last week, having looked too fast for Villa’s defence.

AM: Dejan Kulusevski – Looks like a natural as James Maddison’s replacement behind Son and scored his first ever Premier League goal in this fixture in 2021/22.

LW: Bryan Gil – Injuries to Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon have given Gil his clearest route to a starting XI spot in his Tottenham career, though he is still yet to score for the club.

ST: Son Heung-min – Three offside goals on Sunday frustrated captain Son, who has dropped behind Mohamed Salah in the Premier League Golden Boot standings.
