Tottenham predicted lineup vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Tottenham take part in their third pre-season friendly of the summer when they host Shakhtar Donetsk in north London on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs were beaten by West Ham before poor weather saw their clash with Leicester cancelled. Ange Postecoglou got his first win with a 5-1 thumping of Lion City Sailors but not without trailing the game for most of the first half.

With only a trip to Barcelona left before the Premier League season starts, here’s the side Postecoglou could pick for his first dance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

GK: Gugliermo Vicario – The news around Hugo Lloris’ future has stalled somewhat but Spurs are looking to the future and summer signing Vicario will feature in goal.

RB: Pedro Porro – Some defensively inept performances during the summer have drawn worrying glances from Spurs fans, but Porro still offers great adventure in the final third.

CB: Cristian Romero – May have a new centre-back partner in the form of Micky van de Ven by the time the season starts.

CB: Ben Davies – Appears to be filling a vacant space meant for an imminent arrival.

LB: Dennis Udogie – Scored in Spurs’ 3-2 defeat to West Ham earlier in the summer, displaying the goal threat that made him such an exciting talent with Udinese.

CM: Oliver Skipp – Has caught the eye with some positive forward running from midfield and may get the nod over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Pape Sarr.

CM: Yves Bissouma – Has just been bestowed with the number eight shirt at Spurs and his efforts in pre-season hint at a large role under Postecoglou this campaign.

RW: Dejan Kulusevski – Has revealed he dances with “no rhythm at all, just pure joy and a big smile”.

AM: James Maddison – Yet to score for his new club but a trademark free-kick would go a long way to endearing the England international to his new supporters.

LW: Son Heung-min – Admitted over the summer he had struggled with injuries throughout the 2022/23 season and hopes are high for Son to rediscover the form that made him a Golden Boot winner.

ST: Harry Kane – Bayern Munich continue to press to make Kane their marquee summer signing. His presence in the squad on Sunday would be a major boost for Postecoglou with the new season so close to starting.
