After Roma pulled out of their pre-season tour of Asia, Tottenham now find themselves set for battle with Singapore outfit Lion City Sailors on Wednesday.
The local side have stepped up and offered to take on Ange Postecoglou’s team, with the new boss set for just his second look at his players after their first friendly, a meeting with West Ham, ended in a harsh 3-2 defeat.
Spurs were due to play Championship side Leicester on Sunday but a waterlogged pitch caused by poor weather conditions saw the fixture in Thailand cancelled.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Fraser Forster, Bryan Gill, Troy Parrott, and Ryan Sessegnon are all out injured and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was left home to negotiate a transfer.

Eagle-eyed viewers may recognise former FIFA wonderkid Richairo Zivkovic, but keep an eye out for attacking midfielder Diego Lopes – the most expensive player in Singapore history thanks to his €1.8m move from Rio Ave in 2021.

Lion City Sailors are among Singapore’s most successful teams but, despite the respect that deserves, they should not be able to hold a candle to Spurs.
Postecoglou’s side were thoroughly impressive against West Ham, even if they ended up on the losing end, and that defeat will likely serve as inspiration here as Spurs seek their first win under the new boss.
Expect a comfortable win for Tottenham, the extent of which will be decided by how strong Postecoglou goes with his team selection.
