Tottenham’s best and worst players in 2-2 draw with Man Utd

Given Tottenham Hotspur’s egregiously poor record at Old Trafford throughout the years, Lilywhites fans probably would’ve taken a 2-2 draw prior to kick-off on Sunday.

And that draw looks all the more digestible when you consider that Tottenham were without James Maddison, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski for the game too.

Goals from Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur ensured that Spurs were able to come from behind on two occasions at the Theatre of Dreams to salvage a point, and ensure that they’re right in the mix for the title ahead of the return of their star offensive trio.

Here’s Tottenham’s best and worst players from the game, according to 90min’s player ratings:

Richarlison: 7/10

With six goals in his last six games, it’s fair to say that Richarlison has turned a corner after a difficult start to life at Tottenham.

The Brazil international was nuisance up front once again on Sunday, chipping in with a goal in the first half and providing Tottenham with a useful out-ball through the game – winning five duals with Man Utd’s defenders.

Honourable mention

Rodrigo Bentancur: 7/10

In a world where players like Moises Caicedo are going for upwards of £100m, it is baffling that Tottenham were able to prise Bentancur away from Juventus for just £20m.

The towering midfielder hasn’t missed a beat since coming back from a serious knee injury, and was at his commanding best at Old Trafford this weekend. His goal showed the buckets of class he has in possession.

Brennan Johnson: 4/10

On occasion, Brennan Johnson has showed why Tottenham Hotspur forked out £47.5m for his services over the summer.

Unfortunately, Sunday’s game against Man Utd wasn’t one of the those occasions. The 22-year-old was bested by his opposite number Aaron Wan-Bissaka throughout the clash at Old Trafford, losing six duals on the flank.

He’s very much a work-in-progress for the Lilywhites, but there’s a very effective player in there somewhere.
