Ukraine vs Italy – Euro 2024 qualifier: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Ukraine will face Italy on Monday in a winner-takes-all affair to close out their Euro 2024 qualification campaigns.

England have already sealed top spot in Group C but second place is very much up for grabs, with both Ukraine and Italy tied on points heading into the final game of the round.

Italy have the superior goal difference and therefore will advance with either a win or a draw, but Ukraine would leapfrog into second if they secure all three points.

Here’s everything you need to know about this one.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to line up in central midfield, despite spending his time at club level with Arsenal at left-back, while fans of Premier League football will also be keen to see Mykhailo Mudryk, Vitaliy Mykolenko and Illya Zabarnyi in action.

Ukraine predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Trubin; Karavaev, Zabarnyi, Matvienko, Mykolenko; Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Konoplya, Sudakov, Mudryk; Dovbyk

Italy avoided any extra fitness issues last time out against North Macedonia and, given the importance of this fixture, may opt for a similar lineup.

There has been plenty of talk in Italy about Jorginho’s role as Italy’s penalty taker. Having failed to score from 12 yards last time out, he has now missed three spot-kicks for his country since 2021 and has not converted for his country in over three years. Whether he will continue in his role remains to be seen.

Italy predicted lineup (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Darmian, Gatti, Acerbi, Dimarco; Jorginho, Barella, Bonaventura; Berardi, Raspadori, Chiesa

Italy are the better team here but that hasn’t stopped them from making hard work of qualifying for tournaments recently.

Ukraine will not lie down here but the fact that they are not actually at home for this ‘home’ tie – the ongoing war in the country has seen them forced to find neutral ground – will not do them any favours in this huge game.

It should be close, but Italy have enough about them to edge proceedings.

Prediction: Ukraine 1-2 Italy
