Who has qualified for the 2023/24 Champions League knockout stages?

The 2023/24 Champions League is approaching its conclusion as teams around Europe aim to qualify for the knockout stages.

Clubs from the eight groups have battled it out to reach the last 16, with holders Manchester City and regular winners Real Madrid assured of their places. The proper cash rewards start to pile up here, which can hand a major financial boost for smaller sides.

The top two teams in each group reach the knockout stages, with third place dropping into the Europa League. Group winners are then drawn against the runners up.

Here are all the teams that have qualified so far and how the groups currently look.

Bayern Munich took no prisoners as they stormed to 12 points from their first four games, sealing top spot.

Harry Kane is back in form in Europe having scored only one Champions League goal in 2022/23 with Spurs and Thomas Tuchel’s side will fancy themselves for a deep run in the knockout stages.

Man Utd are in serious danger of dropping out of the competition and can’t afford to suffer defeat to Galatasaray, with the Turkish side and Copenhagen both a point ahead of the Red Devils.

Arsenal’s return to the Champions League has been largely positive and a point in their Matchday 5 clash with Lens will be enough to take Mikel Arteta’s squad through.

The second qualifying spot will then be up for grabs, with PSV Eindhoven and Sevilla still in the hunt.

Real Madrid still have top spot to wrap up in Group C but their place in the last 16 is assured with two games left to play.

England star Jude Bellingham has shone in Europe this season while Brazilian pair Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo have also impressed.

Napoli will expect to join Los Blancos in the last 16 but might have to wait until the final round of fixtures before confirmation.

After coming fourth in their 2022/23 UCL group, Atletico Madrid have returned to form by booking their last 16 place with a game to spare.

Manchester City and RB Leipzig were the first teams to take their places in the last 16, both qualifying on 7 November.

City threatened to throw away top spot by going 2-0 down to Leipzig on Matchday 5 but quickly composed themselves to confirm their status as group winners.

Their routine losses to Man City aside, RB Leipzig have been faultless in the Champions League so far this season.

A pair of wins against Crvena Zvezda and another victory over Young Boys made the German outfit impossible to catch for either of the group minnows.

Barcelona could have reached the last 16 on Matchday 4 but an away loss to Shakhtar Donetsk made them wait until after the November international break to complete the job.
