Pop star Britney Spears‘ estranged father Jamie Spears is reportedly in the hospital battling a serious health issue months after his knee surgery.
After numerous health struggles throughout the years, the 71-year-old is reportedly in the hospital and will require surgery while he battles a severe infection.
Britney Spears’ Dad Jamie Spears Reportedly ‘Severely Ill’ In Hospital
Jamie Spears has been struggling with several health struggles throughout the years. On Thursday night, a source told Page Six that the Spears patriarch is “severely ill” and in the hospital.
“Jamie has been suffering with a bad infection that has required surgery,” another source added. “He has been hospitalized for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”
The insider also indicated that a previous Daily Mail report stating that Jamie went to rehab over the summer to work on his issues stemming from alcohol addiction was false.
Jamie Spears Is Reportedly ‘Extremely Thin’ Amid Health Issues
In August, TMZ reported that Jamie was hospitalized “several months ago” to deal with an infection from a knee replacement that he went through almost two decades ago.
Sources told the outlet that he had “lost more than 25 pounds” and looked “extremely thin” while “in and out” of medical care. Despite reports that Britney was going to make up with her father amid his health scare, a source told Page Six in August, “Britney is on a healing journey, but a reconciliation with Jamie is not in the cards.”
Britney Has A Complicated Relationship With Her Mother, Sister
In addition to her father, Britney also has a strained relationship with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, amid her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
In August 2023, a source told Page Six that the pop star is still not “on good terms with her family” even though she allowed her mother to visit her at her home in May. “Her meeting with her mom, went OK, but there’s still a lot of hurt there, so they haven’t quite reconciled,” the source claimed. “Britney is still very angry with Jamie Lynn, too.”
The insider called the “Hold Me Closer” singer “isolated, especially now without Sam,” but went on to say that she is “hanging in there, all things considered.”
Later that same day, a source told TMZ that Britney was still “isolated” from her family and not on speaking terms with them. “She has one confidant, [her manager] Cade [Hudson],” one source said. “Then there’s her security team, and after that, her support system falls off a cliff.”
Another Insider Claims That Britney Spears Is ‘Not Alone At All’
The Daily Mail, however, reported the opposite, saying that her mother and sister have been nothing but supportive of the pop star despite the divorce.
“She is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mom Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she has not flown in already,” the insider told the outlet. “She has a support system including her agent and longtime friend [and manager] Cade [Hudson], her friends which include several of her backup dancers and her girlfriends.”
In addition to her family, the insider said that Britney also “has a team of assistants and her chef” who were always around her. The source also said that she had been “getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn’t spoken to in years” amid the divorce.
“She will get through this,” the source added. “She has gotten through worse and no one will allow anything to happen to her.”
Lynne Spears Is Reportedly ‘Furious’ At Sam Asghari
Later the week, another source told the Daily Mail that Britney’s mother is “furious” with the actor for “abandoning” her daughter and is now “begging” her daughter to “heal and regroup” in Louisiana with the rest of her family.
“Lynne is furious at [Sam] for abandoning Britney,” an insider shared. “He took a vow to stand by her side through sickness and health – and he knew she was not well [when they married].”
They continued, “Lynne is begging [Britney] to leave LA and live with her,” adding, “LA is toxic and the only thing keeping her there was [Sam]. Lynne believes she can heal and regroup in Louisiana, then return to LA when she is ready.”
