The IHF World Women’s Handball Championship 2023 is set to unfold from November 29 to December 17, 2023, and will be the 26th iteration of the competition. The event, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation (IHF), will be hosted across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. This will be the first time the championship will be held in three different countries and the inaugural hosting in Sweden.
Since its inception in 1957, the IHF Women’s Handball World Championship has witnessed a steady increase in participation. From the original nine teams competing in the first tournament, the number has expanded to 32 teams as of the 2021 edition. Norway is the most dominant nation in the history of the World Women’s Handball Championship, amassing a total of 11 medals, which includes 4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
