An initial investigation indicates the “incident started with a disturbance between two groups that escalated to gunfire,” according to police.

“It is not clear at this point if any of the people injured were also individuals who fired shots. That will be part of what detectives will attempt to determine,” police said in a statement, per ABC. “Detectives are also working to review any video surveillance footage that may be available as the business did have surveillance cameras.”

The mass shooting at Waffle House comes shortly after the strategy in Kansas City, which left one dead.

The tragedy in Kansas City left one individual dead and 39 people wounded, 23 of them with gunshot injuries. At least half of those people were under the age of 16. Luckily, all 12 children have been released from the children’s hospital and are now back home with their loved ones.

“We have great news to share — all patients have been discharged from Children’s Mercy,” a hospital spokeswoman told The Post.

Authorities initially detained three individuals while investigating the incident, however, one of those juveniles was released after it was determined he had not been involved. The other two juveniles are facing gun-related and resisting arrest charges in connection with the mass shooting.

After the shooting, many Kansas City Chiefs players released statements and launched fundraisers to raise money for the victims and families affected by the tragedy.

Linebacker Drue Tranquil was the first to speak out, expressing, “Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act. Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes launched an emergency response fund to support victims.

“Just like #ChiefsKingdom has always been there for me and my family, we want to be there for them,” he announced on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “The @Chiefs have launched #KCStrong, an emergency response fund supporting victims and their families, violence prevention and mental health services, and first responders.”

A motive for the shooting is not yet known, though authorities have ruled out terrorism but rather “a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.”
