Matthew Perry‘s primary care doctor is an anesthesiologist and ketamine specialist, who does in-person treatment and microdosing treatment at home.
According to Perry’s autopsy report, obtained by The Blast, his cause of death was listed as acute effects of the drug Ketamine. Perry was utilizing Ketamine therapy at the time of his death for anxiety and depression, however, his last known treatment overseen by a medical professional was over one week before he passed.
Ever since Perry’s autopsy report was released, questions surrounding his cause of death have been raised — including how Perry came into possession of the drug, as investigators concluded “the exact method of intake of the drug found in his system is “unknown.”
Matthew Perry’s Doctor Has Prescribed Microdoses Of Ketamine To Patients
After further investigation, The Blast has discovered that Dr. Andre Atoian, who was listed as Perry’s primary care doctor in the autopsy report, is the founder and medical director of Ketamine Specialists (now known as Limbic Medical) — and he administers ketamine via microdosing at home.
Microdosing is the practice of taking or administering very small amounts of a drug (in this case, ketamine) to benefit from its “physiological action while minimizing undesirable side effects.” In a 2022 interview, Dr. Andre Atoian stated that not only does he have patients come into his office for IV treatments of ketamine therapy, but he also prescribes microdosing at home.
Lower dosage of ketamine is not FDA-approved, and those injections are used “off-label” to treat depression, pain, and other mental health/substance use disorders.
This latest discovery comes days after Matthew Perry‘s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, called for an investigation into the doctors who were treating Perry, claiming the actor may have obtained Ketamine from a medical professional rather than off the streets.
According to the autopsy, obtained by The Blast, Perry “was seeing a psychiatrist, Dr. Yaghamie [redacted] and was prescribed antidepressants.” His “current primary care physician was an anesthesiologist Dr. Ataoin [redacted].”
At the time of his death, it’s unclear if Dr. Atoian was the medical professional who oversaw Perry’s last ketamine treatment.
Dr. Atoian also claims there is no addiction associated with ketamine use, and he has given the drug to patients for months at a time before taking them off “cold turkey” and hasn’t had any issues.
However, The Blast has found that even though ketamine has been FDA-approved and legalized for use as a general anesthetic since the 1970s, it can be abused as a recreational drug.

Ketamine is a secluded anesthetic medication, also known as a psychedelic drug, that can be used in Ketamine therapy, a treatment used by many celebrities to manage mental health conditions, such as treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Perry’s “history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/emphysema, diabetes; drug use in past — reportedly clean for 19 months; heavy tobacco user for many years but currently not smoking; on ketamine infusion therapy with most recent therapy reportedly one and a half weeks before death,” the autopsy report states.
