Players Who Are Suspended For The Upcoming Games

Even at this early in the season, Fantasy Premier League managers need to consider not just player rotation but also the possibility of players being suspended from their squads due to accumulated yellow cards. If a player receives five yellow cards in their team’s first 19 Premier League matches, they will have to sit out one game in the same competition. It’s important to note that these yellow cards do not carry over to the EFL Cup or FA Cup.

This season, Chelsea’s forward Nicolas Jackson is the first player to reach this suspension threshold, as he has received a yellow card in five out of the first six gameweeks. Meanwhile, Antony Gordon became the second player to collect five yellow cards and hence he’ll miss gameweek 8. Additionally, the highly-owned Bruno Fernandes, who is on 19.7 percent of managers’ teams, has also collected three yellow cards.

Players who have a total of 10 yellow cards in Premier League matches will face a two-match suspension in the competition. Gordon won’t be available for Newcastle United’s match against West Ham United due to suspension. Diogo Jota is set to miss Liverpool’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion because he received a red card for collecting two yellow cards in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. Curtis Jones, a teammate of Jota, was also shown a red card for a serious foul in the same match. Consequently, he will be absent not only for the Brighton match but also for Liverpool’s home fixtures against Everton and Nottingham Forest in Gameweeks 9 and 10, respectively. Malo Gusto will complete his three-match suspension when Chelsea faces Burnley in Gameweek 8.
