Should We Sell Trippier For A More Affordable Defender

Newcastle United’s demanding fixture list may encourage numerous Fantasy Premier League owners of Kieran Trippier (7.0m) to consider seeking an alternative. The Magpies are set to face Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United in the next four Gameweeks, potentially eliminating Trippier’s chances of clean sheets and assists, and posing a threat to his top position among defenders.

Alternative to Trippier

Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen (5.0m), has a much more favorable fixtures. According to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings, four of the Eagles’ next five matches, including their upcoming clash with promoted Burnley, are rated only two in terms of difficulty. Andersen trails Trippier by just five points, thanks to his various sources for point collection. The center-back has two goals, an assist, four clean sheets, and nine bonus points over the opening 10 Gameweeks.

Aston Villa’s Matty Cash (5.2m), Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot (4.9m), and West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd (4.5m) also have favorable schedules and their offensive powers could lead to substantial returns. According to the FDR, all three clubs have three matches with a difficulty rating of just two in the next four Gameweeks. Cash has found the net twice and provided an assist in the opening 10 Gameweeks. His 16 shots, 13 shots in the box, and eight shots on target are clear of any other Fantasy defender.

Liverpool’s left-back Tsimikas (4.6m) and Arsenal’s Ben White (5.7m) can also be other options for Fantasy managers in the upcoming Gameweeks. Tsimikas has secured consecutive clean sheets since taking over for the injured Andrew Robertson (6.5m) and has a favorable schedule ahead, with four of Liverpool’s next six matches rated only two in the FDR.

White’s schedule becomes more favorable from Gameweek 12, with fixtures against Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Luton Town in the following weeks. His versatile style of play not only justifies the extra investment over his fellow Gunners defenders but also makes him the most likely member of the back four to collect bonus points.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Pervis Estupinan (5.0m), is also close to returning from injury. The Ecuadorian scored once and provided three assists in six appearances before his injury. Four of the Seagulls’ next six matches have a difficulty rating of only two in the FDR, which is likely to prompt Estupinan, previously one of the most-owned FPL defenders, to make a comeback in many squads.
