Born in 2002 in Maribor, Slovenia, Rok Možič has solidified his place as a volleyball prodigy on the international stage. Following in the footsteps of his volleyball enthusiast parents, and particularly his father and coach, Peter Možič, Rok commenced his journey with OK Maribor when he was just seven years old. During his teenage years, Rok amassed 8 national titles, and in a memorable 2020 /2021 season, he played an instrumental role in reclaiming the championship cup for Maribor after nearly three decades.
Internationally, Rok‘s career gained prominence quite early. At just 17, he represented Slovenia in the European Olympic Qualifiers for 2020. By 2021, he had penned a contract with Italy’s Verona Volley and made his entry into the European club circuit. Later that year, he was integral in leading the Slovenian squad to the European Championship’s final face-off, where they came second to Italy. Rok bagged the prestigious Andrej Kuznetsov award in the 2021/2022 season and made a name for himself as the league’s top scorer.
Apart from his achievements in indoor volleyball, Rok has also made an impact in beach volleyball. In partnership with Rok Braček, he clinched the European Championship title for the under-20 category in 2021, held in Izmir. Rok’s beach accolades are even strengthened by his 12 national titles, which shows consistency since the age of 13. Rok’s potential was recognized and as a result, he was crowned Maribor’s top emerging athlete in 2019 and was lauded as Slovenia’s standout sports personality two years later.
