Former Big Brother host Davina McCall has opened up about starting her own fashion line. The star admitted in a new interview that even just speaking about her upcoming lingerie line makes her emotional.

The 56-year-old has discussed the origins of her new brand, Sessi, and has opened up about feeling “invisible” when shopping for underwear. Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the mum-of-three explained: “I’ve spent the past seven years talking about a lingerie brand for post-baby bodies, and I’m finally launching it.

“I get a bit teary when I talk about this because when I felt really invisible and went into shops to buy underwear, I thought, ‘What’s on offer is the plainest, most neutral, depressing big pants. You’re going to give me the menopause and really dull underwear?’”

Davina explained that she decided she was “not doing it” and opted to start her own lingerie line instead. She explained to the publication that she has called it “Sessi”.

“So, in February, I’m launching a new brand Sessi – a mixture of sexy and sassy, which is how I want people to feel,” she added. Earlier this week, The Masked Singer judge made headlines after she admitted to sending letters to various members of the Royal Family for the last 48 years.

In an interview with Heat magazine, the mum-of-three said: “I have been writing to the Royal Family since I was eight. I started off with a letter to the Queen.

“I got a letter with the wax on the back. I then wrote one to Princess Margaret, [and] to Princess Diana after the ‘Panorama’ interview.”

She also revealed that she wrote to King Charles III as well as Kate Middleton and Prince William.

The admittance comes ahead of Davina receiving her MBE for services to broadcasting next month.

Speaking about receiving the award notice, she told the publication: “When I got my MBE, I got a letter from Prince William saying, ‘I just want to say congratulations. We are so pleased for you’. It meant a lot to me.”

Opening up about the award to Good Housekeeping, the former Big Brother presenter said: “I was very emotional when I heard. You see other people who are teachers or athletes getting MBEs after doing something amazing.

“I’m an entertainment TV presenter and I didn’t mind that I was never going to get one.”

She added that she was included in the 2023 Birthday Honours because of “all the menopause stuff” and claimed that she wasn’t the “first” to speak on the topic.

“But I think the time was right when my documentary came out in 2021,” Davina added.

The February 2024 issue of Good Housekeeping is now on sale.
