Jacob Elordi hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in January 2024. Not only was the episode his first time hosting, but it was the first episode of the new year. It wouldn’t come as a shock if Elordi was feeling extra pressure.
Elordi began his opening monologue by mentioning his film Saltburn.
“You might know me from Saltburn. Not from seeing the film, just from seeing the TikToks,” Elordi joked. The broadcast then cut to a screenshot from the film where Elordi’s co-star Barry Keoghan has sex with a grave.
“I was the one in the grave,” Elordi said. “If you saw the movie, thank you. If you saw the movie with your parents, I’m sorry. If you saw the movie with your girlfriend, you’re welcome.”
Elordi then took questions from the audience. When someone asked the actor who his favorite Elvis was, he responded, “Lilo and Stitch Elvis.” This was in reference to Elordi’s role as Elvis in the movie Priscilla.
While this might seem like a joke to poke fun at Elordi’s age, it has some basis in reality. Elordi recently admitted during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he was only familiar with Elvis thanks to the Disney film prior to portraying him.
“The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo & Stitch,” Elordi said. “Which is a lot, by the way.”
Fans of Elordi took to the YouTube comment section to compliment the actor on his debut hosting gig. However, there seemed to be a common belief that Elordi seemed very nervous during his monologue.

After her hosting debut on SNL, Billie Eilish was a guest on The Howard Stern Show. In the lengthy interview, Stern touched on several topics, including Eilish’s hosting gig on the legendary television show.
“SNL, whoosh, it was the most crazy s*** ever… Saturday was, like, you know, one of the best days of my life, it was so much fun and so amazing and surreal and ridiculous,” Eilish said. “Threw up on the plane coming here, had crazy s***s when I got here like you would not believe,” Eilish said.

Billie Eilish had a memorable experience on SNL, but prior to appearing on the program, she struggled backstage.
“That’s not a usual thing,” she continued. “I’ve had stomach aches all week, I’ve been anxious and nervous… just because that’s not my world and I’m petrified of people thinking that I suck.”
Eilish said she never gets nervous when performing her concerts, so these nerves were particularly “jarring.” Stern complimented Eilish, saying she didn’t appear nervous. She explained that once she saw the crowd and felt their joy, the nerves went away.
“I think that is just my love of performing and then I was like, ‘Oh this is actually really incredible and this is just for fun,” she said.
