When Johnny Knoxville was interviewed by Howard Stern, some cringey aspects about his relationship with Jessica Simpson were revealed.

However, Stern had praise for Fallon during their 2009 interview even though the comedian was so new to the talk show gig. “You’re doing fine. I read a review today, said you were really good. You got a three or four-star review in The Daily News. Said you have a lot of promise.”

Instead of responding to Stern’s praise, Fallon opted to immediately change the subject. Fallon’s topic of choice was what it was like for him during his first week as a talk show host. Based on Fallon’s description, it is easy to imagine how unique that experience is.

Most notably, Fallon described how off-putting it was for him as he made his way towards the stage to host his first show. As Fallon described, getting advice from well-meaning people completely freaked him out.

“You can be as calm as you want. You’re like, ‘Alright, I’m ready. Let’s go do the monologue.’ And on the way from my office to the studio, four people stop you, and they grab your arm like ‘Hey, Jimmy. You know what I’d do? I breathe, I breathe, just breathe, hit the mark and then tell the next joke’ And then they’re great. And then you walk, and then another guy goes, ‘Hey Jimmy. You know what I’d do buddy? Don’t be nervous. Picture everyone naked.’ There you go, ‘Alright great.”
