Jordan Finlayson: Disgraced Beauty and the Geek reality TV star back in court over using fake medical certificates after drug driving conviction

A disgraced former reality TV star and model has admitted to using fake medical certificates to avoid reporting to police while on bail for drug driving.

Jordan Finlayson pleaded guilty at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday to four counts of using a false document to influence the exercise of public duty.

The 32-year-old competed on Beauty and the Geek in 2011 before her meth-fuelled fall from grace, and was convicted late last year of driving while on drugs.

At the time, Finlayson was required to report to Mascot police three times per week, but was revealed to have used fake documents when she failed to attend.

Agreed facts tendered to the court state Finlayson had used medical certificates from multiple doctors to explain failures to report beginning in August 2023.

On at least four occasions, Finlayson presented police with certificates stating she was unfit for ‘work or study’ on days she was supposed to report to police.

At the time, the certificates – including from an online healthcare consultant – were deemed to be legitimate and were uploaded to the NSW Police system.

It was only after a raid by police on Finlayson’s Sydney hotel room in November that the authenticity of the medical certificates was thrown into doubt.

Police unearthed multiple certificates on phones in the room booked by Finlayson’s partner Deha Kelecki, who was wanted on an arrest warrant.

Believing the medical certificates were not genuine, police were granted a digital access order to view the contents of Finlyason’s phone in early-December.

According to the documents, Finlayson told police at her Zetland home she had recently change the PIN to the mobile phone and ‘could not remember it’.

After providing a number of possible passcodes which were later identified to be incorrect, Finlayson apologised to police and provided the PIN to the phone.

Detectives later found multiple medical certificates on the device, including some dated to July 2023. Those certificates were viewed to have different fonts.

The following week, police interviewed doctors and staff who had provided the certificates who confirmed they had only provided notes for the July absences.

On January 5, Finalyson attended Mascot police station after being contacted by police, where she was arrested and entered into custody in regard to the fraud.

‘ (Finlayson) participated in an interview and made admissions in relation to the medical certificates, identifying that she presented them,’ the documents state.

‘However, she made no comment in relation to the origin of the medical certificates or knowledge of them being fraudulent.’

Finlayson told police she was about to commence residential rehab for drug addiction, but was unable to provide more accurate information because of her drug use.

She will reappear before the same court for sentencing on February 23.
