Lorraine Kelly thanked Louise Minchin for hosting her morning show today.
The show regular was missing from her ITV show this morning, without explanation, as the former BBC Breakfast presenter stepped in to hold the fort.
Taking to Twitter, Louise penned: “This is exciting! Back on early morning telly today, standing in for the brilliant @reallorraine and I have borrowed her mug!”
The Scottish-born host, 63, reacted to the post and wrote: “Thank you lovely @louiseminchin.”
Social media users also reacted to Louise stepping in as viewers praised the former BBC presenter.
One person commented: “Louise Minchin making her debut standing in for Lorraine this morning!!!”
Another penned: “Loving Louise Minchin on Lorraine. Such breath of fresh air. Can we have more of her?”
A third wrote: “I love Louise Minchin on the Lorraine show.”
Opening the show, she said: “I am Louise Minchin standing for Lorraine today,” but did not give a reason as to why she was presenting.
No explanation was given but it is most likely due to the half-term break.
Louise was a presenter on BBC Breakfast for 20 years and announced her departure back in June 2021, before doing her last episode on September 15 the same year.
Sharing why she was stepping down from her role, she explained: “In December I’d taken three, four weeks off work because of an ankle operation and I had that period to realise that when I’m not getting up at 3:40am in the morning, I’m doing all sorts of things in the evening that I want to be doing – like just watching telly with my family, doing that kind of family stuff.
“I think it was coming out of winter into this period that the decision was made.”
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
