Among those people, there was a lot of interest in every aspect of the Queen’s life including what her sleeping situation was like.

In 2012, Prince Phillip’s cousin Lady Pamela Hicks spoke to the Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith. During that conversation, Hicks explained to Smith that in the Queen and Prince’s circles, sleeping separately is the norm.

“It’s a matter of convenience, if you can afford it,” he said, referring to his and his wife Mira’s separate bedrooms. If you can have that extra room, it’s basically a luxury.”

Speaking about his own social circles, Borukhin remarked: “Everybody accepts it as a normal thing.”

Over a year after Prince Phillip passed, Queen Elizabeth took her final breath. According to a Royal expert named Katie Nicholl who spoke to Entertainment Tonight in the immediate aftermath, The Queen died of a broken heart.

“I think she ultimately died of a broken heart, really. She was never the same after Philip went. They’d been together for 74 years. He was, she said, her strength and stay. He supported her in everything she did in life. I think it’s fair to say that she wouldn’t be the Queen that she was without the support of Philip, and I think something in her died when he went.”
