Ronnie Tutt began recording and performing with Jerry Garcia’s, Jerry Garcia’s, and Merl Saunders’ short Legion of Mary in 1974. Meanwhile, the drummer played drums with the Jerry Garcia Band for four years and contributed to Billy Joel’s second and third albums.
When the TCB band disbanded following Elvis Presley’s death, Neil Diamond invited Tutt to join Diamond as Diamond’s permanent performing and recording session drummer.
In addition, he also appeared on the Piano Man album. The drummer also played drums on Garcia’s studio recordings “Reflections” (1976) and “Cats Under the Stars” (1978). He, on the other hand, returned to the studio with Garcia in 1982 to assist in the recording of “Run for the Roses.”
