Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell has shared an insight into her festive season down under with her 999,000 Instagram followers. The Australian native has returned home for the festive season with boyfriend Joe Sugg and the couple spent Christmas Day on the beach in her homeland.
The star seemed to be enjoying her well-earned downtime as she posed in a skimpy burnt orange bikini as well as posting loved-up snaps with Joe. However, it isn’t purely a beach break as her father Mark is also currently undergoing treatment for cancer and she wanted to be there for him.
The 34-year-old spent the whole of the season with family following the recent Strictly final. Alongside her beach photos, Dianne also shared photos from their Christmas feast.
Captioning the image, she wrote: “I feel so blessed to have all these people in my life. Sending you all a merry Christmas, I hope your day is filled with love and happiness.”
Dianne was paired with Bobby Brazier in the popular Saturday night dance competition and the pair put on a spectacular performance throughout the show, but were pipped to the Glitterball Trophy by Ellie Leach and Vito Copolla. After the final Dianne revealed on social media that she had jetted back to Australia and reunited with her dad.
Sharing a snap of them together, she wrote: “And from the concert to having our first-morning coffee I’m home @mark.3802.”
The dancer first hinted at details of his cancer in October when she bravely opened up about the “difficult time” she was having away from the dance floor, revealing she had received some concerning news about her dad’s health.
In a Q&A on her YouTube channel, she revealed: “I thought I’d be very upfront and honest with you all. Last week I got some news about my dad’s health.
“I’m not going to go into detail, but obviously that affected me. Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing.”
“So I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that,” she continued. “And obviously, if you follow me on here, you know that my family were all going to be coming here for Christmas.
“My mum and dad were going to come and watch me in the show – that won’t be happening now,” she confirmed, “So I’m now going to go home to Australia.”
She also admitted that her father was her motivation to do well on the show. “My dad, as you know, is the sweetest, kindest man you’ll ever meet and the one thing that my dad really wants is for me to keep going and to keep dancing my little heart out and doing what I love, because that makes him the absolute proudest.
“So I am going to try my best to do an amazing job every single week, regardless of whether I go home to my dad with a glitterball or not,” she finished, as she held back tears.
