Strictly’s James Jordan skewers Jeremy Vine over cycling vid: ‘Why is it always you?’

James Jordan queried whether Jeremy Vine needs to take a “road proficiency course” after the presenter shared footage from an accident he was involved in while cycling around London. The former Strictly Come Dancing star took to social media to take a pop at the BBC Radio 2 host.

On Friday, Jeremy, 58, shared a clip of his bike being run over by a van. Writing to his 787,900 X followers, the presenter explained that he sent the original footage to the police.

A letter dated Monday, December 18, was pictured explaining that the van driver attended a “Safe and Considerate Driving Course”. In the caption, Jeremy thanked the police and “all road safety units” which keep cyclists “safe”.

However, James, 45, apparently took issue with the social media post and has fired back at the Eggheads presenter. On Saturday morning, he took to the platform and wrote: “Driver wasn’t prosecuted which says a lot.

“They are basically saying what he did was equivalent to going 34 in a 30 – and why does it ALWAYS happen to you Jeremy? Maybe it’s you that needs to go for a road proficiency course.”

The father-of-one added that he “never” has “any of these problems” when he goes out on his own bike.

After posting, a fellow X user commented: “The police said the motorist was in the wrong and Jeremy wasn’t. It’s that simple.”

James has replied to this sentiment by simply writing: “Wasn’t prosecuted.”

The dad-of-one has also shared another cycling-related video with his followers which showed a biker swerving away from a fire engine.

In the caption, he wrote: “And this is why cyclists should be accountable – all this money that’s been spent for cyclists yet many are still incompetent.

“They should have some kind of license or cycling proficiency test to pass if they want to share the roads with cars who pay road tax. Also insurance!”

In the comments section, one social media user wrote: “Jeremy Vine would say it’s the fire engine’s fault. Anything but the cyclist.”

A second said: “TBF it’s hard to spot a big red fire engine with flashing blue lights.”

“What’s the betting he had buds in his ears and music playing,” queried another.

The ex-Strictly pro – who was integral to the show between 2006 and 2013 – made headlines earlier this month when he revealed his daughter had been suffering from pneumonia.

Uploading a series of videos to his Instagram stories, the dancer told his 263,000 followers that three-year-old Ella had been taken to Pembury Hospital.

“We found out later last night that Ella actually had, or has, got pneumonia which is what they are currently treating along with the tonsilitis. So it was a bit more concerning than we initially thought.”

He added: “She is still on IV antibiotics but it seems to be working and hopefully we might be going home later this evening which will be really nice for Ella.”

In a later video, James revealed that his and Ola Jordan’s daughter was feeling “much better”.

“Her temperature has been controlled now for nearly 24 hours, which is amazing,” he explained.

In a further health update, James posed for a sweet selfie beside his daughter and wrote: “Got my baby back.”
