Expert lipreader reveals what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said to each other as they cheered on Invictus Games volleyball match

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen in animated conversation yesterday as they sat down to support disabled and wounded military veterans play a volleyball match at the Invictus Games in Germany.

The couple cheered on the teams, took selfies with supporters and were seen affectionately laughing with each other as they watched Nigeria play Ukraine.

During the game, Meghan asked Harry about the tournament rules adding what a ‘good’ and ‘crazy’ match it was to spectate, according to expert lipreader Jacqui Press.

According to Ms Press, the Duke and Duchess spoke about the rules of the game and how teams progress to the next level.

Leaning into Harry’s ear, Meghan looked towards the game as she asked questions about the ‘teams’ that were playing in the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf.

The Duke, while moving his hands and fingers as though he was drawing a box, seemed to explain how teams move up through the tournament.

He told Meghan that competitors ‘all these matches play in a different way’ and they play ‘quarter final, quarter finals, semifinals, finals’ to which Meghan replied ‘Ah I see’.

Harry then added: ‘So they all play different levels’.

Between their pairs cheers and whoops Meghan told her husband ‘this match is crazy’ before he replied ‘yes, I know’.

The royal couple, who were reunited in Germany Wednesday, took selfies, hugged and chatted with fellow spectators as they waited for the tense match to begin.

Meghan looked glamorous as she donned white skinny jeans paired with a Ralph Lauren sweater vest, while Harry appeared casual wearing black jeans and a grey coloured shirt.

Following the game, the pair headed out into Dusseldorf’s Old Town where they celebrated Prince Harry’s birthday.

The Duke, who turned 39 today, was spotted tucking into plates of bratwurst, sausage, Wiener Schnitzel, red cabbage and mashed potato, as he dined with his wife and a dozen aides at a German beer house last night.

The pair were seen laughing and joking at the Im Goldened Kessel restaurant as the food arrived.

Meghan continued to sport a chic outfit, appearing to wear the same white jeans she had worn at the volleyball match, pairing it with a red and white pinstriped shirt and nude ballet pumps. Meanwhile Harry wore the same outfit.

Other diners in the restaurant largely left the couple alone but were allowed to take photos and some said hello.

Meghan and Harry posed with restaurant owner Thea Ungermann and head waiter Frank Wackers.

The cheery party sang Happy Birthday to the Prince as staff presented him with a white chocolate cake.

After tucking in, the party then walked back to their waiting cars along cobbled streets in the Old Town, or Altstadt area of the city.

Mr Wackers, who has worked at the restaurant for 38 years, told MailOnline: ‘He was a lovely man and was having a very jolly time. Meghan was lovely’.

The head waiter said the party took up two tables in the small diner, which is part of the Schumacher brewery.

Harry drank six small beers throughout the night, Mr Wackers said, while Meghan had just one.

The Prince’s bodyguard even joked with the waiter that ‘if the beer was bad’ he would ‘kill him’. ‘But I know he was joking,’ Mr Wackers added.

The owner of the restaurant added that Harry picked up the bill and left a huge tip for staff.

Another source, close with the Prince, told MailOnline: ‘They drank local beer and ate family style dishes to experience a true German meal. Everyone was incredibly friendly, especially the waiters pictured in the photograph online.

‘They did not dine in a private space and were in joyful spirits, toasting and laughing with the team.

‘After dinner the group headed back to the hotel to sing happy birthday and eat cake just shy of midnight!’

The Invictus Games, which is one of the biggest projects Prince Harry has continued since his departure from the royal family, marks the first public engagement the Duke and Duchess have engaged in together since May.

Meghan flew out to meet her husband in Germany on Wednesday, two weeks after they were last pictured together at a Beyoncé concert in California, where Harry appeared bored and looked at his phone.

This week, however, the couple have continuously put on huge displays of flirting and affection as they attended matches and spoke with members of the military.

The loved up exchanges follows speculation about their future in Hollywood and rumoured strains of their relationship behind the scenes after it emerged Meghan had taken off her wedding ring.

But friends revealed this was simply because a setting had become loose.
