As the Champions League and other European football competitions commence as soon as Tuesday, investing funds in players not involved can be particularly useful to avoid rotation and boost FPL point potential. So who are the top picks from the 12 clubs not in Europe this season?

We’ve selected the top picks in conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool to show their predicted points for FPL Gameweek 5.

Spurs fans may not like being reminded of their lack of European football this season, but it will help Ange Postecoglou’s side who go all out attack in FPL terms. James Maddison is their key creator with four attacking returns in the opening four gameweeks.

Maddison has multiple routes to points given his goal and assist potential, plus he dominates Spurs set pieces with 17 corners and six free kicks taken this campaign. He’s had nine shots on target this season, which is second among all players.

Nicolas JacksonNicolas Jackson

Nicolas Jackson is the most sold player going into Gameweek 5 but promising fixtures remain for Chelsea with no European interruptions, with AI concurring that managers should hold onto the Blues number nine.

Despite some wasteful finishing, Jackson’s underlying numbers remain sound, level with Erling Haaland on seven big chances. He could potentially get penalty duties too after Enzo Fernadez failed to convert from the spot in Gameweek 2.

A tricky fixture for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo this weekend has left some managers considering whether to bench or sell him, but AI still predicts five points for him in the trip to Newcastle.

It’s rarely viable to bench a penalty taker and Mbeumo is also heavily involved in Brentford’s other set pieces. The Cameroon international has had six big chances on goal, scoring four. Opponents Newcastle are without a clean sheet this season, conceding seven goals to date.

Carlton MorrisCarlton Morris

Luton Town’s Carlton Morris has started the season with two attacking returns in three games; a goal and an assist. He’s started to catch the attention of the FPL community, with the schedule for Luton being a key factor in that.

Luton’s postponed fixture against Burnley has been rescheduled for the midweek of Gameweek 7, creating a double gameweek. This gives Morris a potential 180 minutes to perform, with the other fixture also a favourable one against Everton.
