Harry, Meghan’s bad press has been a ‘gift’ to ‘deified’ William, Kate: Graham Norton claims

Graham Norton has weighed in on the British public’s consensus relating to the royals.

Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” Thursday night, the Irish comedian and talk show host was quizzed on how Brits feel about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

“Since you can speak for all Brits,” Cohen began to ask Norton. “What would you say is the overriding feeling about Harry and Meghan over there at this point?”

“It’s difficult,” Norton, 60, responded. “I think in the press it’s very anti them, and it’s been a gift to [Prince] William and [Princess] Kate because now they are deified. They can do no wrong.”

“I mean, Kate can do and hit and run and it would be fine because she’s such a lovely person,” he said sarcastically. “But do regular people care that much? I don’t think they do. I think they just think, ‘Let them live their lives.’”

Since quitting royal life in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hightailed it across the pond to North America in a bid to start afresh.

After ultimately settling down in Montecito, Calif., the couple sat down for a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, followed by the release of their six-part Netflix documentary, as well as Harry’s protocol-shattering memoir, “Spare.”

The pair have been stern critics of the royal family and the Firm’s way of life, prompting backlash from media and the public.

But Norton’s comments seemingly clash with that of royal biographer and expert Angela Levin, who recently said that “nobody wants” Harry and Meghan to return to the UK.

Last month, it was reported that the Sussexes are hoping to repair their soured relationship with William by renting an apartment in Kensington Palace.

“I think they’re doing this whole thing about they want to come back … they were going to rent a room in one of the palaces and be there so that they can help, but nobody wants them to help,” Levin told Sky News Australia last month.

Levin later told GB News that the royal family simply doesn’t trust Harry in case he “sells whatever is said to him.”
