Patrick Mahomes reacts to dad’s DWI arrest ahead of Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes spoke out about his dad, Mahomes Sr.’s, DWI arrest as he gears up for the 2024 Super Bowl.

“He’s doing good. I don’t really want to get into it too much but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is,” the Kansas City Chiefs star said during the Super Bowl Opening Night Monday.

“It’s a family matter so I will just keep it to the family. That’s all I really have to say at this point.”

Mahomes Sr. — who has been incarcerated several times for driving while intoxicated — was arrested for the same offense Saturday night in Tyler, TX.

He was released Sunday after posting a $10,000 bond, per documents obtained by Page Six.

At the time, he pleaded guilty to the charges and was ordered to serve 40 days in jail, which he did on the weekends from February 2019 to February 2020, the Kansas City Star reported.

According to Us Weekly, the family patriarch was also charged twice for DWI in 2018.

Mahomes Sr.’s latest trouble with the law comes as his son and the Chiefs prepare to take on the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.

It’s unclear if the former MLB star will be in attendance, but if he is, he’ll likely stay away from pop star Taylor Swift.

The father of the Chiefs’ quarterback admitted he didn’t want to sit by the “Cruel Summer” songstress or Travis Kelce’s family when the Chiefs were in the playoffs last month.

“It’s a family matter so I will just keep it to the family. That’s all I really have to say at this point,” he continued. Patrick Mahomes Sr.

“I hope not,” he said during the “Evan & Tiki” radio show last month. “Travis normally has his own thing, and Patrick has his own deal, too.”

“But I imagine if Taylor wants her own suite, I think she’s got enough money to get the one she wants,” he added.

However, there appears to be no bad blood between Mahomes Sr. and the Kelce clan as he referred to Travis and Jason Kelce in particular as “fun guys.”

As for Swift, the former Boston Red Sox star previously gushed over her “down to earth” attitude after meeting her for the first time in a NFL VIP suite.

“So the first time I met her, I walked up to her to introduce myself, and she said, ‘Yeah, I know who you are. I watched the ‘Quarterback’ series. I know you’re [Patrick’s] dad,’” he recalled, referencing the Netflix docuseries about his son.

“Every time I’ve hung out with her, she just acts like a normal person,” the former baseball pro continued.
