Shannen Doherty: Alyssa Milano caused ‘weird divide’ with Holly Marie Combs behind the scenes of ‘Charmed’

Shannen Doherty blames Alyssa Milano for causing a “weird divide” between her and Holly Marie Combs behind the scenes of their hit show, “Charmed.”

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star claimed on her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” Monday that Milano and her family tried “to pull [Combs] away from” her despite knowing the duo were inseparable best friends.

When Combs was hospitalized in the late ’90s for surgery to remove a potentially cancerous tumor, Doherty claimed Milano prevented her from visiting the “Pretty Little Liars” star.

“Hospitals scared me to death. I waited 24 hours after your surgery to go, and then it wasn’t even easy for me to get in. I was, like, being told I couldn’t even get in,” the “Heathers” actress recalled to Combs.

“Alyssa and her mom were blocking people from seeing you, and at the time you didn’t know. I remember you texted me, ‘Dude, are you going to come and see me?’”

“We all could have behaved better at certain points, but there was a lack of awareness of a bigger, broader picture,” Combs explained. WireImage

Doherty, 52, felt guilt and anger upon receiving the message, which she admitted caused her to cry “every single night” while filming the second season of “Charmed.”

“I think it was pretty obvious I was raised by teenage parents and I didn’t have a big family, so you’re right, when a family swooped in and tried to basically adopt me, it was very seductive for me,” Combs, 50, explained.

“I also wanted everybody to get along, I wanted the show to be successful. There were no angels, there were no demons. We all had bad days, we all had good days. We all could have behaved better at certain points, but there was a lack of awareness of a bigger, broader picture.”

Milano, 50, and Doherty appeared as witch sisters Phoebe and Prue Halliwell, respectively, on the hit WB drama for three seasons together.

The “BH90210” star, who has been battling stage 4 breast cancer, exited the series in 2001, with the rumor mill churning that her departure was due to behind-the-scenes tension with Milano.

“There was too much drama on the set and not enough passion for the work,” Doherty said in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” after leaving.

“I’m 30 years old, and I don’t have time for drama in my life anymore.”

Doherty and Milano’s feud lasted years before the two finally ended it in 2017 when Milano revealed they had been in communication.

In 2021, the “Who’s the Boss?” star said she lives with “guilt” from the years-long feud.

“You know, I could take responsibility for a lot of our tension that we had,” she explained.

“I think a lot of our struggle came from feeling that I was in competition rather than it being that sisterhood that the show was so much about. And I have some guilt about my part in that.”
