Taylor Swift turned down offer to perform at King Charles III’s coronation: book

Taylor Swift doesn’t love every London Boy.

Royal expert Omid Scobie claims in his new book, “Endgame,” that the pop star, 33, turned down an offer to perform at King Charles III’s coronation earlier this year.

Although Scobie didn’t elaborate on the 12-time Grammy winner’s decision, she notably had an Eras Tour concert in Nashville on May 6, the same date as the coronation.

But Swift wasn’t the only big name to reportedly shoot down the offer, making it a “challenge” for royal officials to organize the event, per US Weekly.

Adele, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls were among the acts who reportedly refused invitations to put on a show for the king and his family, per Rolling Stone.

While most of the musicians declined to explain their decision to opt out of the coronation, a rep for John confirmed to the magazine that the “Rocket Man” singer had a prior commitment that day.

Yet at the time, experts suggested that most artists didn’t want to align their brand with the monarchy following its scandals.

“The royal family has faced a number of PR disasters in recent times, and anyone performing at the show would have to consider whether there would be a backlash from appearing amongst their fans,” Simon Jones, a publicist for Little Mix, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, told the outlet.

However, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli eventually agreed to perform at the big ceremony alongside Nicole Scherzinger and British pop group Take That.

Despite the initial difficulty, the celebration went off with out a hitch, with the royal family looking overjoyed during the performances.

Although neither Swift nor Meghan Markle could make the lavish event, the Duchess of Sussex was able to catch one of the “Anti-Hero” singer’s record-breaking concerts in August.

The mother of two stepped out in Los Angeles over the summer alongside British bestie Lucy Fraser to watch Swift perform at SoFi Stadium.

Markle was reportedly all smiles as she took in the show, even jumping out of her seat to sing along to  “You Belong With Me.”

However, Price Harry was busy on business in Asia and had to miss the fun-filled concert.

Meanwhile, Swift is set to take her tour across the pond in June 2024, giving the royal family another opportunity to watch her rock the stage.
