Man Utd pre-season 2023/24: Fixtures and schedule

A positive 2022/23 season has given Manchester United fans further reason to be optimistic under Erik ten Hag.

While the odd chastening defeat was never too far away, the Red Devils largely impressed in the Dutchman’s debut campaign, ending their trophy draught with the Carabao Cup and returning to the Champions League with a third place finish.

Summer transfer targets still need to be secured at Old Trafford. Mason Mount has arrived but the exit of David de Gea means a new goalkeeper will need to arrive – likely in the form of Andre Onana – while the search for a new striker continues.

United also have a packed friendly schedule to navigate throughout the summer, with a trip to the states on the horizon. Here are the details you need.

United will head to the United States for a pre-season tour for the first time since 2018 back when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

However, the Red Devils are in action twice before jetting over to the USA. They first clash with Leeds in Oslo, Norway before travelling back to the United Kingdom for a fixture with Ligue 1 giants Lyon at Murrayfield.

Second and third in last season’s Premier League meet in United’s first stateside friendly of the summer when they take on Arsenal in New Jersey. That game is followed up by matches against National League champions Wrexham – where youth prospects are expected to feature heavily – and Real Madrid which are less than 24 hours apart.

Competitive games between United and Real don’t come around too often – they last officially squared off in the 2017 UEFA Super Cup which Los Blancos won 2-1.

United’s last tour game in the states is against Borussia Dortmund before their only pre-season game at Old Trafford against Ligue 1 runners up Lens. A final game with Athletic Club in Dublin will wrap up Erik ten Hag’s 2023/24 preparations.
