PSG predicted lineup vs Marseille – Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain have made a faltering start to their Ligue 1 campaign this season and go into Sunday’s Le Classique a point behind opponents Marseille.

One of the biggest games on the French football calendar, it’s one Marseille could do without given their coach and a chunk of the board – including the president – resigned earlier in the week.

Marseille were in action on Thursday as they drew 3-3 with Ajax, where both their scintillating attack and woeful defence were on full show. There is a recipe for goals in this one, but PSG must be as professional as possible and look to grab an early lead.

Here is the team manager Luis Enrique could choose to ensure PSG end the weekend ahead of Marseille in the Ligue 1 table.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma An undroppable player, especially with Sergio Rico unavailable while recovering from his accident.

RB: Achraf Hakimi The right-back scored in the Champions League against old team Borussia Dortmund in midweek. Hakimi is also undroppable and will continue to perform.

CB: Marquinhos – PSG’s defence is incredibly settled right now and Marquinhos is back in the fold having missed the Nice game due to international duty.

CB: Milan Skriniar – Some say it is easier for defenders, but Skriniar has needed no adjustment period whatsoever since joining PSG from Inter.

LB: Lucas Hernandez Just like Skriniar, Hernandez has slotted right in and is holding his place with each game that comes around.

CM: Warren Zaire-Emery Despite his age, Zaire-Emery is getting regular starts in midfield, a testament to how mature he is.

CM: Manuel Ugarte Ugarte almost missed the Dortmund win through injury but ended up playing the whole match. He has taken to life in France extremely well.

CM: Vitinha Enrique is seemingly certain he has the right formula at PSG and just needs it to gel all together better. There are other midfield options but Vitinha keeps getting the nod.

RW: Ousmane Dembele – PSG didn’t sign Dembele just to put him on the bench and that is how the summer transfer has panned out so far. The Frenchman is expected to retain his place on the right wing.

ST: Randal Kolo Muani Another recruit from the transfer window, Kolo Muani is still chasing his first goal for the club.

LW: Kylian Mbappe – Mbappe’s return to the PSG fold after another dramatic summer has been a big relief for Enrique. His long-term future may not be at PSG but he keeps scoring.
