On July 22, 2023, Boniface made another significant move by signing with the Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen until June 30, 2028, where he was assigned the number 22 jersey.

Merely a week later, he displayed his skills by scoring his first Bundesliga goals, scoring twice in a 3–0 away win against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Borussia Park. Boniface’s international career also got off to an impressive start on September 10, 2023, when he earned his first cap for Nigeria. He joined the match in the 64th minute, substituting for Taiwo Awoniyi, and then assisted his teammate, Samuel Chukwueze.
